RWANDA POLYTECHNIC HOLDS ITS 6TH GRADUATION

Kigali: On 31st May 2023, Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) graduated 2885 students in its sixth graduation at BK Arena.Kigali: On 31st May 2023, Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) graduated 2885 students in its sixth graduation at BK Arena.

Among 2885 graduates, males were 2222 while females were 663. In this ceremony, the graduating students were awarded Advanced Diplomas and Diploma Certificates after completion of studies in different programs which are Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Forest Engineering and Wood Technology, Forest Resources Management, Hospitality Management, Information and Communication Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Management, and Wildlife Tourism in the Academic Year 2021/ 2022 in eight constituent colleges of RP which are IPRC Gishari, IPRC Huye, IPRC Karongi, IPRC Kigali, IPRC Kitabi, IPRC Musanze, IPRC Ngoma and IPRC Tumba.

Prior to this sixth graduation, RP conducted 5 graduation ceremonies: On June 28, 2018, with a total number of 1,882 graduates, its second graduation on 21st Mach 2019 with 2088 graduates, its third graduation on 25th October with 2398 graduates and 4th Virtual Graduation on 6th May 2021 with a total number of 3049 graduates and 5th graduation with 2753 graduates.

The Minister of Education and guest of honor Dr. Uwamaliya Valentine congratulated the graduates for their hard work and well-earned Advanced Diploma and Diploma Qualifications and urged them to be ready to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.

Dr.Uwamaliya requested the graduates to use their skills in the implementation of the Made in Rwanda policy and attract investment in different economic sectors.

 “Your skills are crucial to the implementation of the Made in Rwanda policy, and attract investment in different economic sectors, such as Energy, Manufacturing, Agro-processing to name but a few”. She said

She went on saying that Rwanda put emphasis on TVET to develop human capital with knowledge & technical skills that are needed for national development, and said that one of the NST-1 pillars of economic transformation requires the scaling up of TVET graduates with skills relevant to the labor market.

She urged the graduates to provide solutions to the industries and create jobs through entrepreneurship.The Minister of Education Dr. Uwamaliya Valentine urged graduates to provide solutions to the industries and create jobs through entrepreneurship.

The Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic, Dr. Sylvie Mucyo also congratulated the graduates for their achievements after many years of their hard work.

She said that their qualifications tell the world and Rwandan society that they are skilled, competent, ambitious, and passionate. She urged them to fulfill their dreams and focus on their goals, work hard, continue to learn from experienced people, be empathetic and innovative and become problem solvers and find the best ways of achieving more.

A Graduate Representative, UMUTONIWASE Fabiola vitalized her colleagues to not only focus on their individual success but also to think of the impact they can make on the world around them.

“Beyond our individual success, we must also think of the impact we can make on the world around us. We are the future leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators. We have the power to make a positive impact on our communities, our country Rwanda, and the world at large.’’She said

During the ceremony, the best-performing students from each college, the best female were awarded a cheque worth Five hundred thousand Rwandan francs ( 500,000 Rfw)  while Niyibizi Yves Clement from IPRC Kitabi, Program of Forest Engineering and Wood Technology whose project entitled: “ Manufacturing of Wood Plastic Composite”  was emerged as the best Project award and got a cheque worth Three Million Rwandan Francs ( 3,000,000Rfw).

RP Partners also awarded the best performers in specific fields of education, Alpha Milk gave a laptop to Isezerano Ntawigenga Kevin, as the best student from Food Technology, Department of Agricultural Engineering at IPRC Musanze while Twizeyimana Emmanuel from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Technology Program at IPRC Gishari got an award of an electronic motorbike given by REM Ltd.
