Tourism is a very important field; it embodies all the activities and services undertaken by tourists towards their destinations. In Rwanda, the most important destinations are natural sites such as National parks, lakes, caves, etc. Tourism contributes greatly to the national Gross Domestic Product. A great gap in terms of tour guiding and interpretation of natural, historical and cultural resources are very remarkable in the Albertine Rift Region.This makes tourists not enjoy entirely the beauty and the spirit of the landscape. As a solution, in 2014-2015, IPRC KITABI opened a Department of Tourism

DESCRIPTION OF TOURISM AND DESTINATION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Introduction
IPRC Kitabi’ s Tourism department offers an advanced diploma in Tourism and Destination Management that aims at responding to the rapidly-changing Tourism Sector where innovation and use of technology are key ingredients to create solutions for today’s most challenging Tourism issues such as digital marketing, product design and development. Graduates are equipped with ability to provide professional tourism services with local and global knowledge, expertise, and resources, working in the design and implementation of activities, tours, transportation, and program logistics. Graduates can also be responsible for managerial functions including organizing, controlling, coordinating, planning, marketing the attractions of a destination to be visited by domestic, regional and international visitors.

Entry Requirement
To be admitted in the advanced diploma program in Tourism and Destination Management, one needs to fulfill the following requirement:

Having an Advanced certificate of secondary education (A2) recognized by the National Examination Council of Rwanda with at least two principal passes in the following combinations: Tourism, HEG, MEG, MCB, BCG, Languages.
